Grand County in October 10/10/2011
We had our first snow of the year last Friday. The upcoming week looks promising for fishing with warmer weather in the forecast. We are still seeing large midge hatches on both the Fraser and Colorado Rivers early in the morning and Blue Winged Olives in the early afternoon. Browns are beginning to show their fall spawning colors and aggressively chasing streamers. We ask that everyone leave them alone while they are on their redds. Thanks to everyone for a great season, hope to see some of you for some winter fly fishing.

Grey Reef this May 05/19/2011
Grey Reef is running at 6,000 cfs currently, but the fishing has been surprisingly good with more large fish than usual, which is saying a lot. The fish have been steady on red worms, San Juans, Baetis and leeches. Make sure that you get your flies down to the fish and you won't be disappointed.
Grey Reef running high, but fishing is good. 05/01/2011
I just returned from guiding on Grey Reef the past two days in snow, wind, rain and high water (Around 5,000 CFS), but the fishing was good with several fish over 20 inches. The fish are hitting on red rock worms, Barrs emergers, RS-2 nymphs in grey and brown, brown leeches and apricot eggs. The water starts to get a little muddy below Government bridge, but fishing is good all the way down to Bessemer Bend. We still have openings for 2 or 3 day trips at the rate of $260 per person per day and this includes lodging (Based on doup
Float fishing on April 17 was low on quantity, but high on quality. 04/19/2011
Six of our guides went float fishing on Sunday. The water temperature was 36 degrees and the fishing was slow, but we did get some big fish. With winter still hanging on, the water is cold and the fish aren't very active. Look for slower deeper water and make sure that you are getting your fly right in front of the fish which seem to be holding tight to the bottom. San Juan worms, baetis nymphs, midge pupa, and glo-bugs were the only flies that brought any success on Sunday.
Here is Dave Parri, one of the owners of Grand County Fishing Co. with a rainbow that took a "lowly" globug. Glo-bugs are frowned upon by many, but sometimes you just need something to wake the fish up. Of note this fish was not on a redd, but in a deep slow run. Please avoid fishing to any redds and allow the fish to create the next generation of trout. Tight lines to everyone.
Spring fishing is officially here 04/15/2011
Grand County is still getting snow, but the days in between have been fishing well. The Colorado around Parshall can become off color on warm days, so arrive early and work on fishing your midges through the deeper pools and their tailouts. Fish in the Williams Fork are looking for eggs and san juan worms. The Fraser River is fishing well with Prince nymphs and red san juan worms.

The weather in Winter Park the past few days has felt more like May than March with temperatures hitting 47 degrees on the slopes today. This has our phone ringing with spring breakers thinking about fly fishing over skiing. The fishing has been very good in the mornings, but with the warmer weather, the river is getting muddy in the later part of the day. We are also taking bookings for our spring float fishing trips in Wyoming for some of the largest wild trout in the lower 48 states. We offer fishing packages with lodging just 5 minutes from the put-in for $260.00 per person per day based on double occupancy. This is a great trip for 2 or for a group of friends up to 10. We have been guiding trips on this trophy trout water since 1997 and this should be on everyone's fly fishing list of must-dos.
